Green City Map

Find the best area to live, street by street

We score every street 0 to 100 for light, trees, quiet, tourists, and how far you walk for coffee or a tram. Then we rank each area by its typical street.

Not sure where to start? Here's Kraków. Blue streets are great to live on, red ones aren't.

What makes a street good to live on

Light and view Sky and space outside your window
Trees Green you can see and walk under
Quiet Away from loud roads and trains
Few tourists Lived in, not overrun by tourists
Daily life on foot Shop, café, doctor and school nearby
No car needed A tram or bus stop a short walk away

Areas also get scores for families, walking and safety. They help you rank areas, but never change the map colours or the main score.

How we score a street

We look from above Summer satellite photos show trees, grass and paving around every street.
We measure every street How far the house opposite is, how much sky it hides, and how loud the traffic is likely to be.
We walk it for you Minutes on foot to the nearest tram stop, shop, café, doctor, school and park.
How it works, and where it can be wrong

Questions people ask

Where's the best area to live in Kraków?

By their typical street: Mistrzejowice (85), Podgórze Duchackie (84) and Bieńczyce (83). Mistrzejowice stands out for shops on foot and good transport. On the map you can also rank areas for families, walking or safety.

Which areas of Kraków are best for families?

Mistrzejowice (94) and Podgórze Duchackie (93): schools and playgrounds close by, parks, quiet streets, calm traffic and few tourists. We don't rate how good the schools are.

Which areas of Kraków are quietest?

Podgórze Duchackie and Bieżanów-Prokocim, where 36% and 36% of streets are quiet. Noise is estimated from roads and railways; aircraft, bars and neighbours aren't counted.

Can you live in Kraków without a car?

In most of it. On 57% of streets a shop, café, pharmacy, doctor, school and gym are all within a 10-minute walk, and 50% have good public transport nearby.

Which areas of Kraków are safest?

By our combined estimate, Stare Miasto (86) and Mistrzejowice (83). It mixes our street estimate, the Hoodmaps crowd map and region-wide crime figures, and any of them can be wrong.

Why do some central areas of Kraków score low?

We score for living there, not visiting. A street in a tourist hotspot, on a loud main road, or where you'd need a car can't score high, however nice the rest is.
