Add your city to the map
Anyone can help. It's free, takes about 10 minutes, and runs on your own computer.
Do you use an AI agent, like Claude Code?
Paste this line into your agent:
claude "Install the Green City Map skill from github.com/broAir/green-city-map and map [your city]"
No agent? Tell us which city you want: the button on this page needs JavaScript.
What happens after you paste the line
- 1 It finds your city Its outline, and the right map grid to measure it in metres.
- 2 It downloads open data Buildings, streets, transit, shops and summer satellite photos. About 300 MB.
- 3 It looks for your city's own data Tree lists, noise maps, 3D buildings and timetables, and whether their licence allows sharing.
- 4 It scores every street About five minutes on a normal laptop.
- 5 You check the map Look at streets you know. If something's off, say so, and your agent notes it.
- 6 You approve the upload Your agent shows a short code and a link. You open it and click “Yes, send it”. We check every city before it goes live.
What data it uses
Buildings and their heights, Overture Maps
Streets, stops, shops and cafés, OpenStreetMap
Summer satellite photos, Copernicus Sentinel-2
A land-cover map, ESA WorldCover
Your city's own open data, only when its licence allows sharing
- The score of every street, and the measurements behind it
- The street lines and the city outline
- Which sources were used, with their licences and dates
- The version of the skill that made it
- Your name or handle, only if you want credit
Never collected: anything about the people who live there. No personal addresses, no location history, no photos. We keep the internet address your upload came from only while it waits for review.
Questions
Does it cost anything?
No. All the data is free, and the work runs on your own computer. Your AI agent may count it toward your usual plan.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Your agent installs and runs everything. Your part is checking the map against streets you know, and approving the upload.
How do you stop junk uploads?
Every upload needs your OK on our site, is signed with a one-time key, and waits in a small, capped queue until we check it by hand. Nothing goes live before that. If your city is already up to date, your agent is told so and sends nothing.
Who can use what I contribute?
Anyone, with credit. City data is shared under the Open Database License (ODbL), the same licence as OpenStreetMap.
